Nigeria international and Stoke City forward Osaze Odemwingie on Tuesday, September 22 started his first game in one year.

The forward started for Stoke City in their 1-0 win over Fulham in the Capital One Cup.

After his latest comeback from injury Odemwingie is aiming to remain fit.

The forward has been pledged with injury since he suffered a  crucial ligament on his knee in Stoke’s English Premier League 1-0 win over Manchester City in August 2014.

The injury meant that the 33-year-old Nigerian International missed most of the season only returning in the last month of the season.

He started Stoke City's Capital One Cup away win at Fulham on Tuesday, September 22 and was excited about it.

"First start for me in over a year. Hope I stay fit and have many more," Osaze said on Twitter.

"Solid team performance and we are through to the next round."

Odemwingie was replaced by new signing Xherdan Shakiri in the 84th minute of the match which Stoke City won with a 33rd minute strike by Peter Crouch.
