How the Black Stars fared in 5-0 victory over Ethiopia

Pulse Sports looks at how the Blac Stars fared against Ethiopia

Ghana thumped Ethiopia 5-0 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualification Group F match at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday.

The victory takes the Black Stars to the top of Group F standings with three points, while Walia Ibex are placed fourth on the table.

We look at how the Black Stars players fared against their Ethiopian counterparts.

Richard Ofori - 6/10

Was virtually on holiday throughout the game. He was finally seriously tested towards the 70th minute when he was forced into a good save by Ethiopia winger Shimelis Bekele from a free-kick.

Harrison Afful - 6/10

Guided in a few teasing crosses from the right-hand side, but didn't quite offer his usual cutting edge

Daniel Amartey - 7/10

Was an aerial threat from any free-kicks or corners. He had little problems to worry about as the Ethiopians failed to pose major threats upfront

John Boye - 8/10

Slid in to make a couple of good interceptions deep inside his own penalty area, as the hosts battled to a huge win. He capped the game with wonderful goal - his 6th in Black Stars shirt

Lumor Agbenyenu - 6/10

Guided in a couple of good crosses from the left flank. Was calm on the ball and showed composure.

Thomas Teye Partey - 7/10

Sat deep and broke up play intelligently. Joined the attack when necessary and offers when he joins attack

Ebenezer Ofori - 9/10

The VFB Stuttgart midfileder scored his debut goal on his second cap for the Black Stars with a superb left-footed shot from outside the area. A willing runner and offered real drive and energy from midfield, linking up on both the left and right of the penalty box

Andre Ayew - 6/10

Had a quite game and couldn't use his trickery to threaten the but he looked dangerous when drifting infield

Asamoah Gyan - 7/10

Nodded home a very early header and was a nuisance in the box throughout the whole afternoon.

Rapahel Dwamena - 9/10

On his debut afternoon, Dwamena did what matters most from a striker. Hit the back of the net from close range from a rebound - making it 4-0 to Ghana with the Ethiopia defence caught ball watching. Completed his brace on the hour-mark - scoring from close range after Mamo failed to hold onto the ball and the striker made it 5-0 to Ghana.

Thomas Agyapong - 8/10

Provided the assist for Asamoah Gyan's historic 50th Black Stars goal. Twsited and turned the Ethiopia defenders several times in the game. Created chances aplenty but struggled in the second half. His pace, silky runs, crosses and take ons wowed the cheering fans at the Babayara stadium on Sunday.
