Why Hearts Snubbed Agbeshie Dotse for Samuel Yeboah

Many Hearts of Oak fans will be wondering why the club failed to seal the capture of Great Olympics forward Agbeshie Dotse ahead of the Ghana premier league.

Before the local transfer window was closed last week Wednesday, reports were rife that the 25 year-old goal poacher had sealed a two -year deal with the Accra giants and he will be leading the Phobians attacking line when the 2015/16 takes off which has been tentatively billed to come off on 20th February, 2016.

However, to the surprise of many football pundits, sports journalists and the club’s fans Agbeshie was not registered by Hearts of Oak as the Phobians registered only nine new players with the only striker being Heart of Lions experienced forward Samuel Yeboah.

And Pulse Ghana Sports in order to ascertain the reasons behind Hearts of Oak's decision to snub Agbeshie for Samuel Yeboah, our sources cited financial reasons for the club’s decision to chose Yeboah over Agbeshie.

“We held talks with Agbeshie and we agreed on a two-year deal, at the same time we were also in talks with Samuel Yeboah which we have to pick only one player because of the financial difficulties the club is facing.

“Negotiations with Agbeshie would have cost around Ghc 50,000 while Yeboah’s cost is Ghc 35,000 so in taking the financial aspect in consideration we decided to choose Yeboah over Agbeshie  and even in terms of experience Yeboah is ahead of Agbeshie,” the source revealed to Pulse Ghana Sports.

The sources added: “It is not that Agbeshie is a bad player for a striker to score eight last season means he is good but it is the club’s choice of snubbing Agbeshie for Yeboah all because of financial reasons.”
