All you need to know about the home of the Ghana Olympics team

The Rio Olympics Village is the home away from home for the Ghana Olympics team.

The Rio Olympics Village will house thousands of athletes and officials during the event from August 5 to August 21.

The home for the athletes during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games is located in Barra da Tijacu, next to the Olympic Park in south western Rio. The village has 31 high-rise buildings with 3604 apartments.

Each of the apartments has two, three or four beds with equipped anti-mosquito electronic devices for the fear of malaria and the Zika virus.

The beds in the rooms are two metres in length but can be extended a further 30cm for very tall athletes.

The rooms have no television due to budget constrains but screens are placed at vantage points and communal areas.

The Rio Olympic Village is a community on its own with medical centers, banks, post office, shopping malls and beauty salons.

There is also a multi-faith worship centre for different religions in the world.

It is not all business for the athletes as there are lounge areas, game rooms, bicycle tracks and swimming pools.

The walkways between buildings are greens with a 24/7 bus service across the village.

The 7000-seater canteen for the athletes will serve an estimated 210 tons of food a day.

SEE ASLO:

Around 13,000 officials and volunteers will work around the clock to attend to the guests at the Rio Olympic village.

And oh! There are 42 condoms for each of the athletes who will make the Olympic village home. Just in case.
