Saddick Adams penalty saves Kotoko blushes against Hearts of Oak

Controversy as Kotoko and Hearts share spoils in Super Clash.

Saddick Adams converted a late penalty kick to rescue Asante Kotoko and snatch a 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak in match-day 23 outstanding league clash at the Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.

The Phobians opened the scoring courtesy Kwame Kizito on the 60th minute mark but Adams ensured both sides shared the spoils when he converted from the penalty spot in the 78th minute.

Kotoko coach Steven Polack and assistant Godwin Ablordey who underwent surgery following the bus accident were passed fit to be on the sideline.

The first half was balanced with not too many chances created by both teams. Sadick Adams was the first to strike at goal and it drew a brave save from Ben Mensah in the 5th minute.

Kotoko defender Ahmed Adams should have put his team into the lead but his header from a Saddick Adams free kick went narrowly wide.

Dazzling play by Winful Cobbinah around the Kotoko goal area opened up the Kotoko’s defence as he expertly found Fatawu Mohammed in the penalty box who beautifully teed up Kwame Kizito who converted from close range.

Referee Dally-Gagba awarded Kotoko a penalty in the 78th minute when Frank Sarfo Gyamfi effort on target struck the hand of Leonard Tawiah. Saddick Adams stepped up and converted from the spot.

He dedicated his goal to the memory of late equipment officer, George Asare.

The goal propelled Kotoko to pile on incessant pressure and Hearts were lucky to escape with a point as Saddick Adams, in last minute of added time, missed the match winner for Kotoko as he failed to find the net from a close range effort.
