The former Chief Executive of Asante Kotoko has been installed as the Bantamahene, a sub chief of Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.

Sylvestre Asare Owusu succeeds, Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V who passed away in 2015.   His stool name is Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI.

Sylvestre is idolised by Kumasi Asante Kotoko faithful for helping the team to their first Ghana Premier League glory in 2003, after 10 years of trophy less as the Chairman of the Interim management committee of the club.

He also made the headlines for completing the transfer of Charles Taylor, the most exciting player in the league from Accra Hearts of Oak in 2003. Most soccer connoisseurs rate it as the most controversial football transfer in the history of the Ghana Premier League.

Sylvestre Asare Owusu returned to the Porcupine Warriors again in 2007 as chairman of the club and propelled them to another league triumph in the 2007-08 season.
