Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang hits back at Andre Ayew’s attitude

2015 African Player of the Year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang admits he was hurt by Yaya Toure and Andre Ayew's reaction to the CAF Awards

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has spoken about how hurt he was from comments by Ivory Coast international Yaya Toure and Ghanaian player Andre Ayew after he was named the African Player of the Year for the year 2015.

Manchester City player questioned CAF for handing the award to Gabon international Aubameyang. The player who won the award previously for four consecutive years even implied that Africa’s football governing body needed to be investigated.

Black Stars vice-captain Andre Ayew questioned he criteria for voting and openly disclosed that he thought he or former winner Yaya Toure should have won the accolade.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has scored 27 goals in 27 games this season hit back at his competition for the 2015 African Player of the Year, Andre Ayew and Yaya Toure saying:

“I spoke with [Andre] Ayew, I did not understand [his attitude]. It doesn’t matter.

“The Golden Ball [of Africa] is played on all season and my calendar year was not bad. It hurt me and that’s a shame.”
