Andre Ayew devastated by coach Afranie’s death

The Black Stars deputy skipper has sent his condolence to the family of Emmanuel Akwasi Afranie.

Andre Ayew has paid tribute to the late Black Stars coach Emmanuel Akwasi Afranie who passed away on Wednesday.

E.K Afranie was killed in a fatal accident on the Suhum Highway, while being transferred from the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to Kumasi for further treatment.

The whole nation was shocked with news of the former Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko death.

Andre Ayew, who is the stand-in-skipper of the Black Stars for their duel against Egypt in the absence of Asamoah Gyan has expressed his deep sorrows for hearing the death of coachhene, Afranie.

"It's a sad news and we send our condolences to the entire family," Ayew said.

"Coach Afrane is a big coach whose demise means Ghana has lost a great person. He qualified the Black Queens to our first ever senior World Cup.

"He has coached all our national teams and that is an enviable achievement. He also coached all the big clubs in Ghana including Kotoko and Hearts. We are really sad and we express our condolences to the entire family and will try to win the game in his honour, " he added.

"It is very sad to hear this news- we all know the contritbution of coach E.K Afranie to the various national teams. He has also done a lot to both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
