Accra Mayor donates GHC 51,000 to Beach soccer

Beach Soccer has got financial backing from the Mayor of Accra

The Chief Executive Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije promised to support beach soccer when took over as the mayor of the capital city of Ghana and he has begun fulfilling them with an amount of GHC 51,000 as contribution towards the upcoming One Ghana Unity Cup, which kicks off on Saturday 15th July.

“I know in other jurisdictions beach soccer is massively supported, and it also benefits all who participate in helping and growing strong and promoting good health. So as the mayor of the city, who is also a coastal boy, I find it necessary. It is an obligation of mine in such a time like this that I must support beach soccer,” he told Class FM.

President of the Ghana Beach Soccer Federation Yaw Ampofo Ankrah expressed his gratitude to the mayor for his kind gesture.

“We are delighted you are getting involved in the Unity Cup 2016 beach soccer, and we appreciate the support you are offering beach soccer,” he said.
