The club in a statement stated that the termination of Kosta Papic's contract was by mutual consent.

Hearts of Oak indicated that they took the decision because the coach had pressurised management to buy certain players, but refused to use them in the end.

The action of the coach annoyed the management, hence agreeing to part ways with him.

Despite Hearts of Oak poor form in the second half of the league and Kotoko new found form, the latter threw in the towel getting to the closing stages of the season, after realising the application of the head to head rule would have gone against them. Kotoko lost 2-1 in Kumasi against Hearts of Oak and won 1-0 in Accra.
