The 18th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, organised by Charterhouse Ghana, was full of surprises and one of the biggest surprises was when Sarkodie revealed that he has collaborated with Tamale-based Afro-pop star, Fancy Gadam.

The BET Award winner who presented the "Best New Artiste" award to Fancy Gadam made the revelation before presenting the award.

It is unclear whether the song belongs to Sarkodie or Fancy but according to sources, Fancy Gadam featured Sarkodie on his track.

Fancy Gadam set a new record last night. He became the first Tamale-based musician to ever win an award at the annual Ghana Music Awards.

Fancy Gadam, who's impressive work in 2016 earned him a nomination in the "Best New Artiste" category beat a stiff competition from Medikal, Nii Funny, Article Wan, Feli Nuna, Ebony, Rudebwoy Ranking and Eugy to clinch the most prestigious award for newcomers.

Fancy Gadam rose to prominence last year after he reportedly filled the Tamale Sports Stadium for his concert and came to Accra to fill the National Theatre for another record concert.
