25 Nigerian soldiers killed by Boko Haram—Report

About 25 Nigerian soldiers were killed when terrorists belonging to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a Boko Haram faction, stormed and overran a military base in Borno State, Northeastern Nigeria. According to Reuters, the attack occurred on Monday, June 17, 2019 in the town of Gajiram, around 5:30 p.m. (1630 GMT). A military source who spoke to Reuters also revealed that fighting between the soldiers and the terrorists lasted 3hrs. The insurgents arrived the base on trucks mounted with guns. One local resident said he saw the bodies of dead Nigerian soldiers strewn all over the place. It is the second time in a week that an army base has been attacked and soldiers put to the sword in Borno. On June 12, suspected Boko Haram militants overran a Nigerian army base in the village of Kareto in northeastern Borno state, killing at least a Commander. Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, recently blamed army commanders and their lack of professionalism for recent defeats at the hands of the terrorists. How can Nigeria stamp out terrorism?
