How this frog meme became a symbol of hope and hate

Pepe the Frog is one of the most popular internet memes of all time. It first debuted in the book “Boy’s Club,” a non-political comic about four roommates who like being lazy and hanging out. But this frog meme eventually fell into the hands of extreme political groups, and by 2016, it was officially classified as a hate symbol by the Anti-Defamation League. Then, in 2019, protesters in Hong Kong rebranded Pepe as a symbol of hope, which helped “take back” Pepe from the American Alt-Right. Documentary "Feels Good Man" tells the story of how Pepe The Frog went from meme to alt-right icon.
