1. The Woyome Judgement Debt scandal

The judgment debt case involving businessman, Alfred Agbesie Woyome, is one case Ghanaians will be expecting action on now that the Special Prosecutor’s Bill has been passed. The International Criminal Court threw out the case earlier this year but the African Court on Human and People’s Rights (ACHPR) last Friday ordered Ghana to suspend the case but the Supreme Court has given State Attorneys the clearance to continue processes for the prosecution.
Mr. Woyome is facing charges of causing financial loss to the state and defrauding by false pretence after he was accused of illegally receiving 51.2 million Ghana Cedis in 2010 for his role in the construction of stadia for the CAN 2008 tournament held in Ghana.
2. SSNIT Software Saga
The parties involved in the controversial US$72 million Operating Business Suite software procured by Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) will by this biting their nails after the parliament passes the Special Persecutors Bill last week. The scandal which fingered the Head of IT who was later accused of the forging his certificates has seen some 15 employees of the Trust appear before Economic and Organised Crime Office for questioning. More heads should be expected to spin especially with both the President and his Vice promising Ghanaians some big prosecutions which will happen soon.

3. COCOBOD
The former CEO of COCOBOD, Dr. Stephen Opuni is at the centre of some serious fraud investigations being carried out by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service over some shady deals involving several millions of Ghana cedis during his tenure as the CEO. This includes the alleged distribution of GH¢100 million worth of “spoilt” fertilizers to coca farmers between 2014 and 2016.
The NPP Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong told Net 2 TV, “I can state categorically that some documents for the prosecution of some corrupt NDC officials are ready; I know of Opuni’s own and some four others. I know all these documents are ready and are in the custody of the CID. I can assure you that they will not go scot-free.” Will this be the first case the Special Prosecutor will handle?
4.JOSPONG

In September this year, some investigations made some interesting revelations which raised some questionable contracts between the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the Jospong Group of companies, a conglomerate which has been cited in a number of sole sourcing contracts entered into by the former NDC government. Ghanaians will definitely be waiting for the outcome of any further investigations in to the matter.
The expectation is that the new arrangement will help save the public purse from scandalous government officials will engage in create, loot and share.
