The Nigerian shot stopper will be fondly remembered for those superb saves that denied Messi a goal when Nigeria played Argentina in the group stage of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Even though the Messi scored twice against him in the 2014 edition, the Nigerian was phenomenal for the Super Eagles throughout his playing days and might make the trip to Russia in 2018.

Joseph Antoine Bell – Cameroon

Josef Antoine Bell is from a long tradition of incredible Cameroonian goalkeepers, and enjoyed a 20-year career that included three world cup appearances, two African Cup of Nations titles and success at Marseilles, Bordeaux and St Etienne. He was one of the first African keepers to play in Europe, and was known for his great agility.

Thomas Nkono – Cameroon

This is the man who inspired Italian Gianluigi Buffon to become a goalkeeper after his heroics at the Italia 90 World Cup.

Jacques Songo - Cameroon

Cameroonian legend Jacques Songo’o only problem was that he was born in the era of Joseph Antoine Bell and Thomas Nkono and had to play second fiddle to these great talents but he was instrumental in helping Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna in their surprising La Liga win in the 96/97 season. He is the only African to have won the coveted Ricardo Zamora trophy for best goalkeeper in the Spanish league.

Richard Kingson – Ghana

The former Blackpool and Wigan Athletic goalkeeper played in two world cups for the Ghana Black Stars reaching the round of 32 and quarter finals in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
