You should certainly not be doing some of these things if you've clocked 30

Living beyond your means, trying to please others while your life is miserable? You are certainly not doing your 30's right.

There's a lot of downright stupid stuff society will give you a pass on while you're still in your 20's, but most of it ceases to be amusing and just gets depressing especially when you turn 30.

We look at some of the habits you should do away with once you hit 30:

1. Stop living beyond your means

You never really bothered about finances and their importance later in life while in your 20’s.  You are now in your 30’s and need to start planning for the future.

This will call for some prudent management of money in terms of putting some cash aside for the years to come. Cut on some extravagant habits like buying designer clothes, fancy cars or too much drinks when you go out.

2. Depending financially on others

At this point in life, you need to take care of yourself instead of relying on others especially your parents. Well, I understand an emergency may occur at some point and you’ll need money from the folks or friends. However, your financial dependence on others shouldn't be a routine.

3. Binge drinking

I am not saying that you quit drinking but just do it moderately. Quit drinking like you are still 21. Binge drinking at this age just means you’re an alcoholic.

4. Living in the past

Your mind can’t let go thinking about the dream job you never got or blaming your childhood/family/parents for why your life sucks, wishing your failed relationships had worked out, etc.

5. Being at a job you are not contented with

In other words, you are at a job that’s negatively affecting the rest of your life. Even though you might not be able to quit right now try to at least start job hunting and plan your exit strategy.

6. Equating money with happiness

Remember those fond memories you had while young? Growing up to a big house, with nice cars, expensive gadgets, and enjoying the finest things the world has to offer?

Well, shock on you when you realize that is not what happiness is all about. Happiness is not about how much money you have in the bank, but rather how you spend your time, who you spend it with, and what you are grateful for.

7. Pretending to be someone you are not

This is more of trying to live beyond your means. People try so hard to portray an image that is not a true reflection of who they are in real life.

Remember, as you pretend to be this alternative version of you, an authentic life will remain out of reach.

You need to stop being anything but who you are in your heart and soul.
