Meet the Ghanaian hardware startup representing Africa at this year's ISHOW

The Ghanaian startup team Dext are the designers of the science set that can fit on the desk of students.

Ghanaian startup, Dext Technology is among 3 innovative start-ups selected to represent Africa in this year’s ISHOW, a global competition for hardware-led social innovations.

The competition, organized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is scheduled to take place in the USA from the 18th to the 20th of October 2017.

The competition concentrates on individuals and organizations taking physical products to market that will have a social impact.

The Ghanaian startup team Dext Tech are the designers of the science set, namely Charles Ofori Antipem and Micheal Asante-Afrifa.

The team’s innovative product the “Science Set” is a user-friendly and affordable miniaturized science laboratory.

The science set is a mini science lab. It is a portable box that contains materials for performing basic experiments in the upper primary and Junior High School science syllabus.

This innovation enables teachers to teach more effectively through demonstration and practice.

The startup has sold over 2000 Science sets in Ghana and hopes to reach over a million students in three years time.

Dext Tech hopes to strengthen by the ISHOW to reach markets whiles remaining socially relevant.
