The vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, will deliver a hard hitting lecture on the economy on Thursday September 8, 2016 at the Accra International Conference Centre.

The former Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana is expected to focus the country's rising pubic debt, the botched Eurobond, the cedi exchange rate, interest rate, cost of borrowing, the public procurement act and the president handling of the economy.

Dr Bawumia has come under vitriolic attacks from surrogates of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) over his pronouncement on the economy, saying he is scaring foreign investors way.

Cassiel Ato Forson, a Deputy Minister of Finance, also accused the former deputy governor of deliberately releasing very alarming statements to create unnecessary panic within the business and investment community.

He said: “Most often, Dr. Bawumia and the NPP activists do these things deliberately to throw dust in the eyes of the public. But they must realize the larger implication because investors listening to their comments and the subsequent debate about the economy react accordingly. I urge them to seek clarification first."

This was after Bawumia accused government of diverted 250m of the one billion dollar Eurobond into a private account for the 2016 campaign.
