7 students of Damongo SHS dismissed for engaging in 'sex party'

The students were caught in the act in a rented room after a tip-off by a staff of the school on Tuesday.

Seven students of Damongo Senior High School in the Northern Region have been sacked for their alleged engagement in a sex party during the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday.

The students – three boys and four girls – were caught in the act in a rented room after a tip-off by a staff of the school on Tuesday.

School authorities said that the students rented the room in the Damongo township where they usually sneaked out of school during classes hours to engage in sexual escapades.

Items found in the room included mattresses and contraceptives.

Some of the sacked students have accused the school authorities of violating their rights.

Speaking with the media, one of the students said that they were locked up in a classroom and subjected to slaps and beatings before being released to go home.

The student also indicated they were marched through some principal streets of Damongo and hooted at by residents.

Meanwhile, other residents have condemned the punishment meted out to the students, describing it as extreme.
