The teachers and students of the Kumasi Technical Institute (KTI) have called on government and the Inspector General of Police to prosecute the Ashanti regional SWAT Commander Christopher Klomegah and Public Relations Officer of the Regional Police Command ASP Mohammed Yusif Tanko.
Over 20 students of the Kumasi Technical Institute were seriously injured after a violent clash with the police personnel.
The violence erupted after some of the students had gone to participate in a zonal inter-school sports competition at the Baba Yara stadium.

The students, in the course of their jubilation, decided to block the road leading from Amakom roundabout to KTI.
Others were banging on cars of motorists and causing severe traffic. Police arrived at the scene and directed the students to use an alternative route for traffic flow.
But some of them failed to heed the call and the situation subsequently turned chaotic.

Mmrantiehene Wireko Brobbey told Kumasi-based Abusua FM that the transfer alone cannot be compared to the brutalities the students suffered.
“We are not satisfied that they have been transferred, we are calling on the government and the IGP to institute investigations into the matter, we are not going to allow them to sweep this issue under the carpet.”
