Multiple award-winning movie director, actor and founder of Breakthrough Studio, Pascal Aka has described his latest action-packed movie entitled “Interception” as ‘epic and revolutionary’.

In an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh, he said the highly anticipated movie is epic and revolutionary due to the input and output.

Speaking on how the producers of “Interception” repudiated other great directors and handed him the directorial role, he said “You can’t really say that I’m part of the whole ‘mafias’ in the movie industry so that makes me different.

“I was opened to producers that have not produced movies before but from different parts of the industry. This is their first venture in movie so I felt that when we bring our creativity together, it would be perfect.”

Touching on why he refused to include Kumawood actors for comic roles, he divulged that, from technical standpoint, Kumawood actors are not the best for action-packed movies but they represent our culture. He also added that John Dumelo, Chris Attoh, Paulina Oduro amongst others filled the gap in “Interception”, thus, their inclusion wasn’t imperative.

“When it comes to technical standpoint, Kumawood actors are not the best (for action-packed movies) but they represent our culture. When you add too many of them to action-packed movies, it will make it too local and won’t go far.

“The comic relief from John Dumelo, Chris Attoh and Paulina Oduro in ‘Interception’ was enough to cover the page. That’s all I wanted,” the “Double Cross” director stated.

Finally, he disclosed that he faced some challenges during the shoot but that didn’t deprive him from achieving success.

“There were challenges in ‘Interception’ but we had a great team. From people behind the scenes to the cast – everybody involved contributed towards the success of the movie.

“Of course we faced difficulties but we did very well with what we had. We didn’t have the ‘Beast of No Nation’ budget but the heart and love we put into it was immeasurable,” Pascal told Pulse.com.gh

“Interception” is a law enforcement movie based in Ghana. The Special Ops Team is a tactical team of highly trained ex-military men who have been handpicked by the Vice President of Ghana for specific assignments.

The movie follows the team as they are assigned to track down illegal arms dealer, Nneru Obajinzi, whose shipment was intercepted while in transit in Ghana.

This all-star cast consists of John Dumelo, Adjetey Anang, Chris Attoh, Ama K. Abebrese, Jasmine Baroudi, Benny Blanco and Pascal Aka.
