Stars turn-up at Global Cinemas’ “Interception” three day premiere

Rappers, EL and D Cryme, music producer Hammer, movie producer, Shirley Frimpong Manso, stars including Nikki Samonas, and Kweku Sintim Misa (KSM) and other celebrities were in attendance to watch the movie.

Most of Ghana’s entertainment greats hung out at Weija, Global Cinemas, for the three day premiere of highly anticipated, Ghanaian action thriller ‘Interception’. The Nilani Productions movie produced and written by Nina Lalwani and directed by Aka Pascal, premiered from Friday 11 December through to Sunday 13 December and was showcased at Ghana’s luxurious cinema complex “Global Cinemas” with the star studded cast to grace the occasion.

‘Interception’ is the first Ghanaian produced action thriller to be premiered at the new Global Cinemas. The movie is about a tactical team of highly trained ex-military men (Special Ops Team) handpicked by the Vice President of Ghana to track down Nuru Obajinzie played by Benny Blanco, who is attempting to smuggle arms to the President of Gamora played by Papa Yaw Addo-Boateng (PY). The team in trying to track down Nuru have to deal with their personal issues such as love and rivalry.

Leading cast-member, Christopher Attoh, told the media he spent two months preparing for fight scenes in the movie. Cast-members, Adjetey Anang, Ama K. Abebrese, Aka Pascal and Benny Blanco, also caused a stir at the cinema as moviegoers came out in their hundreds to mingle with the stars. Rappers, EL and D Cryme, music producer Hammer, movie producer, Shirley Frimpong Manso, stars including Nikki Samonas, and Kweku Sintim Misa (KSM) and other celebrities were in attendance to watch the movie.

KSM, gave his verdict, saying, “I am very impressed with Interception and the cast, Ghana has not seen an action film like this before, I loved all the different storylines particularly the unfolding love story. I recommend everyone come and watch Interception at Global Cinemas”.

Business Manager, Kweku Cobbina, said he was very excited at the turnout and more importantly, the feedback of cinemagoers. He said Global Cinemas’ main objective is to give its audiences world-class entertainment while promoting quality local talent. He ended, saying, “All our cinema halls were full with cinemagoers watching Interception. Those who first watched the movie told others who also came to experience the movie. It’s a record, really. If this turnout is anything to go by this is the start of a great relationship between Global Cinemas and Nilani Productions for the betterment of the industry.”

The three-day event featured a special “Blue Carpet” with glitz and glamour on Friday December 11, with the cast and other celebs strutting their stuff. On Saturday the 12, the cast, stars and celebrities partied with the cinemagoers after the movie screening at Aura Bar and Lounge within the Global Cinemas building and on Sunday, cinemagoers enjoyed interacting with the celebrities who signed and gave away posters of the movie. The movie will be continue to screen at Global Cinemas over the Christmas period.

The premiere of Interception was sponsored by Amarula who gave free drinks to all cinemagoers.
