10 highs and lows from Stonebwoy’s concert

In case you missed this year’s edition, here are 10 highs and lows from the 2017 edition of the ‘Ashaiman to the World’ concert.

The latest one was held Saturday, September 30, at the Sakasaka Park at Ashaiman, a suburb of Tema in the Greater Accra Region.

Just like any other year, there have been some highs and lows at the concert.

1. ‘Ashaiman to the World’ outshone many events held the same night

Aside from Stonebwoy’s concert, there were several popular events held the same night in Accra. Top events like Vodafone African Legends Night, Miss Ghana Fashion Show, and Jubilish Hall Week happened the same night but ‘Ashaiman to the World’ was on top of the news.

2. Massive turnout

For the past 4 years, Stonebwoy has managed to garner massive crowd at his concert. He keeps breaking his own records every year and this year, he pulled another mammoth crowd; nearing 50,000.

“We pulled close to or even over 50,000 crowd,” the organisers told Pulse.com.gh

Even though some attendees and reporters have disputed the figures, it is clear that the crowd that turned up was encouraging and a record-breaking one.

3. Exhilarating performances

For the first time (I stand to be corrected), a mainstream Gospel artiste was allowed to rock shoulders with secular musicians on the same stage at 'Ashaiman to the World' concert. “Boot 4 Boo” hitmaker and Zylofon Music newly signed artiste, Joyce Blessing delivered one of the best performances on the night, according to Pulse.com.gh reporter.

Aside from that, other top artistes like Lil Win, Kumi Guitar, Kofi Kinaata, Becca, Obibini, King Promise, Fancy Gadam, Patapaa, Teephlow, Kurl Songx and Shatta Wale rocked the fans with wild performances.

4. Lil Win and Patapaa quash beef

After Patapaa and Lil Win engaged in a heated beef over “One Corner” collabo saga, they finally made up at Stonebwoy’s concert.

Pulse.com.gh reporter said halfway through Patapaa’s performance, Lil Win stormed the stage, joined him to perform “One Corner” and even showered money on fans.

We hope they work together after the concert.

5. Shatta Wale’s surprise appearance

Even though Shatta Wale promised several times that he would support Stonebwoy prior to the concert, many doubted – because he’s unpredictable.

6. Samini missed

Stonebwoy’s godfather, Samini, who has constantly supported him missed the event. Even though Stonebwoy hasn’t released any statement explaining Samini’s absence, our sources said he was out of the country.

7. Technical glitches

One of the biggest lows of the concert has to do with technical glitches. Probably, the organisers overlooked it.

Pulse.com.gh reporter said there were a lot of technical issues on the night, preventing some artistes to deliver. Kumi Guitar’s performance came to an abrupt end and Fancy Gadam’s performance was interrupted by the technical glitches.

8. Missile fired, Stonebwoy’s wife injured

The concert couldn’t have come to an end without a bad news.

Firstly, Stonebwoy was documenting his appearance at the concert via his Facebook page when an unknown fan suddenly threw a stone at him.

9. Fans pepper sprayed

According to Pulse.com.gh reporter, there were series of pepper spraying at the concert. Even at some point, artistes performing and reporters covering the event were maced.

10. Security dereliction

The laxity in security was one of the biggest challenges at the concert. Since it was an outdoor event, the security system was supposed to be tightened to ensure safety.

Pulse.com.gh reporter stated that the security was loose, guards couldn’t control the crowd causing them to break the barricades and the stage was packed with too many people giving the artistes a little space to operate.

But, overall, Stonebwoy and his Zylofon Media team organised a successful concert. Congrats!
