Ghanaian gospel artiste and music producer, Nana Kweku Osei, popularly known as Nacee, has indicated that gospel artistes should be educated on the need to give credit to people who work on their songs.

The leader of No Tribe, in an interview with KMJ on Hitz FM said more often than not, some gospel musicians fail to acknowledge producers, drummers, instrumentalists, composers and others who contributed to their works.

He stated since producers do almost 90 percent of the work, it behoves gospel musicians to acknowledge them.

“Most of these issues are normally not common in the hiplife, highlife genre. Get closer to the gospel artistes and get their CDs and read the back. You will see, ‘all songs were written and arranged, composed by so so and so artiste. But this is the case you come to the studio and you have a 10% song with 90% done in the studio under our [producers] direction,” Nacee said as he contributed to his colleague Kaywa’s assertion that music producers are not given due recognition in Ghana.

“So if there is any attention to be paid, I think we should educate the gospel musicians as well. I see hiplife artistes write names of some producers. When you write it, it doesn’t mean your name will not be recognised in the industry,” he added.
