Stonebwoy

Livingstone Etse Satekla a.k.a. Stonebwoy was born on the 5 of March 1988 in Ashaiman and hails from Anloga in the Volta Region of Ghana. He studied at Methodist Day Secondary School where he gained his High School Leaving Certificate. He continued his education at tertiary University of Professional Studies to earn a degree in Marketing in 2013.

He started performing as Stonebwoy since Senior High School as an underground rapper. With motivation from his family, he appeared on a popular rap competition ‘’Kasahare Level’’ on Adom FM featuring Sarkodie and Dr. Cryme and the like saw him knocking out several other rappers gaining himself underground popularity. It was through these rap battles and his style of music which caught the eye of Samini to sign him to his ‘’Samini Music’’ record label.

Under Samini Music, Stonebwoy recorded his first hit single ‘’Climax’’ featuring Samini and subsequently ‘’Ghetto Love’’ featuring Irene Logan. Both songs earned him nominations at the Ghana music Awards. The 27 year old released his debut album ‘’Grade 1 Album’’ under his Burniton Music Group Label and made Stonebwoy a household name in the music industry. He has since released three great albums.

Stonebwoy often raga in Jamaican Patois and is considered a ‘’multifaceted rapper’’ due to the various musical style he possess. On becoming a celebrity, Stonebwoy has performed with so many artiste including; Samini, Obrafour, Kwaw Kese, Afro Moses,  Black Rasta, Mugeeez, Irene Logan, Jah Vinci, Tinny, Mz vee, Sarkodie, Randy Valentine, Princess Karamanti, Carabraia, and Selasi.

His sophomore album, Necessary Evil, was the recipient of 3 Ghana Music Awards from 6 nominations. In 2013, he won the BEST COLLABORATION at the BASS AWARDS. In 2014, he swept two awards at the BASS AWARDS: Dancehall Song of the Year and Best Dancehall Collaboration. He also won the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year. In 2015, he swept home three awards at the GHANA MUSIC AWARDS and won an award at the BET AWARDS the same year. Thus Stonebwoy has received both international and national recognition for his hard work. It’s no surprise the Ghanaian president loves his music.
