When it comes to female vocalists, I can bet that Ghana has got the best. Even though the giants were absent this year, emerging vocalists made some huge impacts.
This year was also a dramatic one. Kaakieâs triumphant comeback and her beef with AK songstress and MzVee switched the attention from the male musicians. It wasnât just a beef, it was also the battle of the female vocalists.
Donât let us forget that some new faces like Cina Soul, Ebony, eShun and Afiba gave the mainstream ones a hot chase.
On this note, we bring you the top 5 female singers who ruled the year 2016.
1. Kaakie
Unlike the normal comeback strategies, Kaakie adopted a style that gave her an instant place in the mainstream business. She came back like a wounded lion and took her crown as the âQueen of Ghana Dancehallâ with no sweat.
After graduating from the University of Ghana with a BSC in Nursing â Midwifery, she returned to the music scene with a staggering beef with AK Songstress and MzVee, and dropped two hits afterwards. She dropped âSankwasâ featuring Guru and followed up with âArostoâ featuring Yaa Pono. She will launch her maiden album "Kaakit Up" on Thursday (December 22) to wrap-up the year.
2. Cina Soul
Cina Soul gave her colleagues some great competition with her soothing vocal. Since emerging early this year, sheâs been active and consistent. She was featured on M.anifestâs and has fairly hit singles like âBamideleâ, âAwoâ, âJulorâ featuring M.anifest and âBaddoâ to her credit.
3. Nana Yaa

When it comes to consistency, Nana Yaa, the daughter of Highlife great Pat Thomas, should be the number one on the list. Sheâs been constituent from the start of the year.
She started off the year with âHandkerchiefâ featuring Samini, then followed up with âKyeremeâ, âFinally Freeâ, âObaa Yaaâ, âBiakoâ featuring Fapenpong and wrapped up the year with a classic video for âHandkerchiefâ. She also headlined two successful concerts at +233 Jazz Bar & Grill and Republic Bar in Accra this year.

Sheâs headlining Djimba World Band's first concert in Wa on December 23.
5. Becca
Becca is finally back. This year has been a great season for the Afro-pop singer. Even though she was dull at the beginning of the year, she has been able to cover up with a hit single titled âBeshiwoâ featuring Bisa Kdei. The video to the song has been streamed half a million times.
