3 men arraigned over alleged N34m theft, break-in

The court heard that the accused broke into the company of Barrister Lara Ademola and carted away several goods worth N34 million.

The trio, Lucky Jacob, 26; Samuel Uwandu, 35, and Augustine Amadi, 21, were brought before the court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, break-in and stealing.

They all pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione, had told the court that the accused committed the offences sometime in May at Km 45, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sangotedo.

He said that the accused broke into the company of Barrister Lara Ademola and carted away several goods worth N34 million.

The following were listed as being stolen from the company: underground armoured cables, generator set, steel poles, refrigerator, washing machine, television, various machines and fourteen mattresses, all amounting to N34 million.

The offences, Uwadione said, contravened Sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Oluyemisi Adelaja, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N1 million, with two responsible sureties each in like sum.

She, therefore, adjourned the case till October 23, for continuation of hearing.
