Lawyer Nabih al-Wahsh was charged with "publicly inciting to flout the law" and "spreading with malice reports and statements meant to perturb public order... and harm the public interest" after his comments had sparked backlash and a complaint was made to the national prosecutor.

Nabih al-Wahsh’s comment has received such a massive public anger, especially because the issue of rape is a national problem Egyptian authorities have been struggling to address using stringent laws.
