The accused who pleaded not guilty to the charges was denied an application for bail made by his counsel, Samuel Judge. The arbitrator, Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode insisted on a written request as opposed to one made orally.

He is being held at the Ile-Ife Prison until his counsel complies with the court order.

Nigerians are angry at the police

Not a lot of people will feel sympathetic over the alleged assault on the policemen for obvious reasons. The #EndSARS campaign has gained support from every Nigerian including revered personalities who all had at least a tale to share concerning a sad experience with the police.

The security personnel representing the SARS in particular have experienced the fury of the populace based on their intimidation and sometimes murder of innocent citizens.

Some members of the SARS team were described to have applied force in a bid to collect money from those they were sworn to protect. A recent video saw one operative accosted by a group of people who insisted on an explanation as he tried to arrest a man on domestic duties.

The officer concerned however failed to give a response but was seen holding on to the victim the way a predator grips a prey.

Shockingly, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) considers those calling for an end to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad as armed robbers. SPJimoh Moshood, the NPF's Public Relations Officer made this assertion on the its website.

According to Moshood, the police has addressed all reports of violation by SARS operatives which often leads to dismissal after they have been charged to court but how many Nigerians can confirm this?
