Police say Uchima, a construction worker, confessed that he strangled the girl and hid her body in a closet in the house he shares with his victim's male classmate and the boy's mother, Japan Times reports.

Student Pulse gathered that Ishibashi was on her way to meet her classmate around 10 a.m. Saturday when she disappeared.

The Police was alerted of Ishibashi’s disappearance after the mother of the classmate she was going to visit told her parents that they have not seen her.

Police believe that Uchima, whose house was less than 100 meters away, must have met her near the house and abducted her.

Uchima's lawyer said his client said he killed the girl and carried her body to his house.

Investigators found a spot about 8 km away from the house where they believe he killed the girl before taking her home.
