Enterprise Africa Summit 2017 set for 22nd to 24th March

February 10, 2017 Accra, Ghana — The British Council Ghana is using its extensive network to convene a regional summit; Enterprise Africa Summit, from 22 – 24 March 2017 at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana

Entrepreneurship is emerging as a crucial catalyst in Africa’s development; entrepreneurs are driving innovation and impact and in the process transforming their communities and economies.

The African narrative is gradually shifting from aid led to enterprise Africa led solutions to Africa’s developmental challenges. A key movement within the growing African entrepreneurship sector is social entrepreneurship - enterprises whose core objective is to address social and environmental challenges within a sustainable business framework; prioritising impact as a core value. The British Council in Sub-Saharan Africa has been spearheading the development of this sector as a viable channel for resilient development.

Building on its extensive work in enterprise and skills development in Sub-Saharan Africa, the British Council is convening the regional summit to build momentum in advocacy and practice towards strengthening entrepreneurship, especially social entrepreneurship, as a viable option for resilient development.

The three-day event will bring together governments, academia, policy-makers, private sector, (impact) investors, development partners, civil society groups and entrepreneurs from across Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK to explore innovations in policy and practice in enterprise development.

The expected outcomes of the summit are:

The Summit will host high level policy and industry forums, enterprise clinics, master class/ capacity development sessions, an investor marketplace and exciting networking engagements, bringing together stakeholders from Ghana, the wider African region and the UK.

Speakers at summit will include sector ministers, policy-makers and industry leaders from Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK and Ghana.
