February 10, 2017 Accra, Ghana — The British Council Ghana is using its extensive network to convene a regional summit; Enterprise Africa Summit, from 22 – 24 March 2017 at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City in Accra, Ghana
The African narrative is gradually shifting from aid led to enterprise Africa led solutions to Africa’s developmental challenges. A key movement within the growing African entrepreneurship sector is social entrepreneurship - enterprises whose core objective is to address social and environmental challenges within a sustainable business framework; prioritising impact as a core value. The British Council in Sub-Saharan Africa has been spearheading the development of this sector as a viable channel for resilient development.
Building on its extensive work in enterprise and skills development in Sub-Saharan Africa, the British Council is convening the regional summit to build momentum in advocacy and practice towards strengthening entrepreneurship, especially social entrepreneurship, as a viable option for resilient development.
The three-day event will bring together governments, academia, policy-makers, private sector, (impact) investors, development partners, civil society groups and entrepreneurs from across Sub-Saharan Africa and the UK to explore innovations in policy and practice in enterprise development.
