EPA shuts down four filling stations in Accra

The fuel stations that have been closed down, according to the EPA, do not have permits to operate in the areas they were located.

 

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation have closed down four filling stations in the Greater Accra region.

The decision followed the June 3 fire explosion at the GOIL filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra which claimed over 150 lives.

The fuel stations that have been closed down, according to the EPA, do not have permits to operate in the areas they were located. Some are also said to be sited in waterways.

The affected filling stations are the Go Gas at the old Kasoa Barrier, OJK and Goil filling stations in Darkuman and Total Filling station at the Mallam Junction.
