Scores of angry artisans on Thursday stormed the premises of Accra-based Joy FM demanding justice for their colleague who was shot Tuesday at Alajo but later died at the hospital.

The protesters, clad in red arm bands were singing and demonstrating, saying that they want the suspect to be dealt with.

They feel that he might be left to walk free since he is said to have links with people in power.

The victim, Richard Yaw Boadi, was sent to the Greater Accra Regional (Ridge Hospital) Hospital Tuesday afternoon in critical condition after he was allegedly shot by a car dealer.

The shooting occurred following a misunderstanding over a parking space.

Eyewitnesses said that the mechanic had asked the car dealer to move his vehicle away from where it was parked to make way for others moving into and out of the warehouse.

But the suspect got furious and had a heated exchange of words with the mechanic and the other artisans.

In the midst of the misunderstanding, the suspect fired a warning shot before aiming at the mechanic.

Residents did not take the shooting lightly and started attacking the suspect in his car.

Scores of them hurled stones and other objects at the vehicle of the suspect.

He would have been lynched if the police had not arrived in time.

The victim has been in the hospital since Tuesday but died Wednesday evening after losing a lot of blood.

An autopsy is yet to be conducted to find out the cause of death.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing charges of attempted murder.
