Femi Akintunde Facility management can boost Ghana's GDP - Alpha Mead Boss

Managing director of the facility managing agency Alpha Mead;Femi Akintunde is urging African leaders to commit some investments into Facility Management due to its contribution to GDP

Managing Director of Alpha Mead Facilities (AMF), Femi Akintunde has raised concerns about the need for the African region to invest in Facility Management(FM).

This he believes has the tendency to push the GDP of countries higher.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Pulse Ghana Business during the maiden edition of FM Roundtable in Ghana, he lamented on the low concentration by various stakeholders in such a green environment.

According to him, FM industry contributes about 5%  to the GDP of developed nations, however, for developing countries to to reap from the sub sector there must be a strong engagement between the government and the private sector.

He also expressed dissatisfaction at the poor way public facilities are managed. This situation he says make public facilities exclusive to only locals.

Touching on consumers of the services of FM, he advised them to ensure value for their investments

Managing Director of NTHC, Jerome Eshun, highlighted the need for industry players to have a robust framework to regulate the activities of the sector.

He also indicated that the introduction of Facility Management in Ghana was positive for the industry as professionalism will come to the fore.

The media must be be a vehicle of development in Ghana by maintaining status as an attractive business destination and invite more foreign investments that will create employment, he added.

Country director of Alpha Mead Ghana, Ekow Ariel Woode also called for more investment to be made in that sector.
