The Electricity Company of Ghana- ECG has raised over GHC2 million in one month. This is after the company embarked on an intensive inspection to check and prosecute all illegal connections to the grid and irresponsible customers who owe debts.

ECG has come under a lot of flack for its operational losses  to theft and unredeemed debts by customers. One of the biggest defaulters of electricity bill  are governmental institutions and educational institutions.

The excercise  is also geared towards assuring investors in the power sector like Independent power producers that their investment will be safe, because the ECG who is the only off-taker will redeem its obligations by efficiently collecting all revenues from its customers.

Speaking on steps being taken to make the ECG more efficient, acting director of the company, Robert Dwamena says the company is determined to recover all monies owed it
