Corrupt MPs 62 percent of Ghanaians says MPs are corrupt

Sixty-two percent of Ghanaians have stated that MPs see power as an avenue to amass wealth at the expense of the poor.

Parliamentarians are only interested in using their office to enrich themselves at the expense of the poor, according to a survey.

Sixty-two percent of Ghanaians have stated that Members of Parliament (MP) use their office to amass wealth for themselves without thinking about their constituents.

The survey was conducted by the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE) in 2014 and made known at a press conference in Accra.

According to the NCCE, over 53 percent respondents do not trust in the ability of parliament to safeguard the public interest.

More than 25 percent of Ghanaians noted that, excessive Executive control has affected the efficiency of Parliament.
