Two persons have been arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for allegedly attempting to traffick seven girls to Jordan in the Middle East.

The two, Courage Boadi, a travel and tours operator, and Michael Akantoganya, a self-styled businessman, were arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) last Monday, as they were facilitating departure formalities for the victims.

According to him, EOCO picked up intelligence that some persons were facilitating the trafficking of girls to Jordan.

EOCO subsequently alerted its surveillance unit when it got the victims’ schedule of travel, Mr Amewu said.

The Aviation Security and the GIS were also notified and the suspects were picked up at the airport while they were going through departure formalities.

The suspects and the victims have since been handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service for further investigations.

Meanwhile, efforts are being made by the police to reunite the victims with their families.
