The facility, which is expected to be completed in 2016, will comprise shops, banks, hospitals and schools.

The necessary funds has been provided to the contractors with them affirming that the completion and handing over of the project to government will be done by August.

The market project is being constructed by the China Railway Construction and Engineering Group and it is part of the 1.3billion loan government contracted from the EXIM Bank of China for infrastructural development in the country.

The project when completed will comprise shops, banks, hospitals and schools.

It will also have a car park, a well-constructed drainage system, and walk ways to ensure free movement of goods and people at the facility.

Work on the project began in December 2014 after a court in Cape Coast had ordered the demolition of the old project to make way for the stadium.

That was after some traders had prayed the court to halt the demolition of the old market until decent structures had been provided for their relocation.
