Fake NUGS president convicted
He was arrested with three others last year after assaulting a student who also claimed to be the president of NUGS.

The four were arrested in October last year after storming the premises of TV3 in Accra to assault one Julian Mawuse Cobbina a student of GIMPA Law School who had come for an interview following his election as the president of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).

Abubakari had driven to the premises of the station with his colleagues, saying that he was the actual NUGS president and even had documents to support that.

He and his colleagues ended up causing confusion at the station. The police intervened and arrested them.
Abubakari, Abdul Kudus Adams, Isaac Kwame and Eric Sofo were then arraigned on conspiracy to commit crime, unlawful entry, assault and rioting but they pleaded not guilty to the charge.

But the court on Tuesday found them guilty and convicted them. They were spared custodial sentence following a plea by their counsel, Gary Nimako Marfo to the effect that they were first offenders.
Mr Nimako Marfo pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy, adding that his clients had no criminal record and they have regretted their actions.
