Kofi Adda, who also doubles as the Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central said this at a sanitation forum organised in Accra on Friday.
He remarked, "Dr Agyapong [CEO of Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Chairman of the Jospong Group of Companies], I’m sorry to disappoint you here…finding solid waste everywhere I feel really disappointed and if you were to ask me why this thing is so, I will put the blame squarely on Zoomlion. Zoomlion, to me, is the cause of it”.
The Minister has been under a barrage of criticism by a section of Ghanaians in regards to the sanitation situation in the country. Many have called for his portfolio to be scrapped as they have seen little or no impact so far of his ministry's work.
However, in his defence, Koffi Adda has said his Ministry in on top of the filth issues but the results have been slow in showing because of their lack of staff.
By his assessment the performance of Zoomlion in the regard has been below par and more effort is needed to tackle the sanitation problem in the capital adding: “I don’t think in the past year or so, Zoomlion has done so well enough”.
