Korle Bu Staff call on CEO to resign

This was after members of the Senior Staff Association passed a vote of no confidence in the Chief Executive and Board Chairman on Wednesday.

Staff of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital are demanding the resignation of the Hospital's CEO, Dr. Gilbert Buckle.

Out of the 2000 senior staff members, 1500 of them representing 89 per cent, voted to kick out Dr. Gilbert Buckle and Dr. Anthony Mawuli Sallar.

The staff have accused the two of mismanaging the hospital’s internally generated funds and paying what they termed needless judgement debts.

President of the Senior Staff Association (KOSSA), Charles Ofei-Palm has told Accra-based Citi FM, “What we use to have before he came is now worse. There are shortages of consumables in the system. Phamarcies and other departments are not functioning properly. It is also shocking to note that when he came, services by 300 percent so you ask yourself where is the money going to?We know the Board has approved an outrageous amount of money for him as condition of service.”

The CEO assumed office in July, 2014 following staff agitation against then acting CEO, Rev. Albert Okpoti Botwe, and then Board Chair Eddie Annan over similar concerns.
