NPP chairman, 4 others arrested for seizure of government facility

The Police Command warned other perpetrators to desist from such acts or face the wrath of the law when they are caught.

This is the first arrest since reports of attacks on NDC members and other staff of some government offices started making the rounds.

The five are 25-year old Musah Muship, 41-year old Abdulai Mohammed, Adam Mahama 39, and Sulemana Issahaku 32. They are all scrap dealers operating in Accra.

At a press conference in Accra, the police paraded four persons who attacked revenue collectors of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA). The four were arrested on Thursday morning at CMB at Makola.

The police narrated that they assaulted the revenue collectors and also robbed them of GH¢2,000.

The police warned other party supporters to desist from such acts.

The NPP’s Amasaman Constituency Chairman Kwame Ofosu-Adjei has also been arrested.

According to a statement signed by Regional Commander, ACP Timothy Y Bonga, he was arrested “for forcibly entering the Doblo Toll Booth and threatening to take over the revenue collection operations, and in the process assaulted the police officer who was then on duty.”

In a related development, the Nima Divisional Command has also arrested three other people for taking over three toilet facilities within Mamobi.

“The Regional Police Command will treat such persons as criminal elements”.

The recent arrests are welcomed by many especially at a time when the police had been accused of not arresting perpetrators because their party was now in power.
