My loss a ‘dent on democracy' – Stephen Amoah

According to him, the balloting and counting of the votes was characterized by inaccuracies.

Stephen Amoah who lost his bid to contest as a parliamentary candidate in the Nhyiaeso constituency on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Saturday polls is a “dent on democracy”.

“It is not clear, I think there is huge amount of ambiguity over the results. Because the EC themselves accepted that there were excesses and the Police were there and so we were asking for clarification.“Personally, I will not take any action against the party, but if others will, I can’t do anything about it.“I have the wiliness and readiness to provide my services to the community and if other people are saying no; if democracy is being dented, what can I do,” he told Ultimate FM’s Patricia Ama Bonsu after the elections.

Mr Amoah had 124 votes as against Kennedy Kankam’s 247. The incumbent MP for the constituency Dr Richard Anane was also defeated as he managed 110 votes. Before the elections, one of the contestants, Awa Abdul Aziz, bowed out of the race to support Dr. Anane to “bring Nana Addo into power.”

Kennedy Kankam who won, until recently, was the party’s Regional Organizer.
