Ghanaians have expressed outrage over the huge number of ministers appointed by the President.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has responded to the public brouhaha that has greeted his appointment of 110 ministers to help him govern the state.

He explained that the problems facing the country, with the persistent decline in the agricultural sector, low growth rate, major issues of corruption and leakage of revenue, demanded bold and ambitious measures to address them.

According to him, "I don’t believe that my government in the Fourth Republic has big numbers in view of the swollen challenges."

In an interview with the Daily Graphic and Ghana Television (GTV) at the Flagstaff House, President Akufo-Addo said "These are the background and circumstances that were facing my government and the people of Ghana, hence they need a new paradigm shift to solve the problems.

"We have a problem and what is the best way? It is better to have men and women capable of serving the nation’s interest and work to grow the economy. If I succeed, you will soon find out that the brouhaha is nothing, compared to the success."

Some Ghanaians have since argued that the ministerial appointments are too many and would be a waste of the tax payer’s money.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has named 110 ministerial and deputy nominees, some are yet to be vetted and approved by parliament.

Nana Akufo-Addo's government will work with 46 ministers, 50 deputy ministers, 10 regional ministers, 10 deputy regional ministers.
