We will offer early warning reports - WANEP

WANEP has started training individuals across the country in its election situation monitoring analysis and mitigation project to build their capacities in relaying sensitive information that is likely to threaten the peace of the country.

According to the Regional Coordinator for Early Warning at WANEP, Ifeanyi Okechukw an early response team which is made up of members of the National Peace Council has been constituted.

“An early response group made up of eminent persons and anchored by the National Peace Council has been set up to deal with particular threats. WANEP is going to base on its credibility of early warning to support and provide reports to this group to make informed decisions and responses to threats identified,” he said on Class FM

National Network Coordinator for WANEP-Ghana, Albert Yelyang, also disclosed their outfit has begun sensitising youth wings of the various political parties on the need to disassociate themselves from electoral violence.

“Because of youthful exuberance and idleness, some young people engage in violence. So, we are working to let them understand that they are part of the election process. We are sensitising them on violence and how that can affect their future,” he added
