Ghanaians have expressed disappointment after pictures emerged showing the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Nana Oye Lithur signing the petition to release the Montie trio.

The three; Ako Gunn, Alistair Nelson and host of a political show on Montie FM Salifu Maase aka Mugabe were handed a four month jail term and also paid GHc 10,000 each after they were found guilty of making contemptuous  comments against Judges of the Supreme court and threatening the Chief Justice.

Owners of the media house were also fined GHc 60,000 by the Supreme Court.

Afterwards a group calling itself Research Advocacy Platform (RAP) launched a petition for sympathisers to sign and impress on President Mahama to exercise his prerogative of mercy.

A number of public figures have signed the petition. Some of them include Dr. Valerie Sawyer, Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Prof Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, and Nana Oye Lithur amongst others.

Ghanaians on social media have expressed their disappointment after Nana Oye Lithur signed the petition. Most people argue that if she condemned the accusations leveled against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission by Kennedy Agyepong, then she should condemn rather than supporting the Montie trio after they threatened the Chief Justice.
