Mahama: I will never take Volta Region for granted

The message comes on the heels of complaints by the Togbe Afede, the Chief of Asogli State, the National Democratic Congress is taking the region for granted.

 

In a speech read on his behalf by the Speaker of Parliament, Edward Joe Adjaho at the grand durbar of chiefs and people of Asogli State to climax this year’s Asogli Yam Festival in Ho, the president said he will work to ensure the region gets its fair share of the development cake.

“Indeed, I shall never take any Region for granted. I pledge to ensure that the Volta Region gets its deserved fair share of the development cake," he said.

The message comes on the heels of complaints by the Togbe Afede, the Chief of Asogli State, that the National Democratic Congress is taking the region for granted.

The chief lamented that he has initiated several meetings to get ministers of states and MPs from the Volta region to address basic developmental challenges in the region but has proved futile.

"Just as President Rawlings and President Atta Mills never forgot about the Volta Region, so shall President John Dramani Mahama never forget about the Volta Region,”  the speech read on his behalf noted.
