Taxi drivers in the Volta regional capital Ho are unhappy with the municipal assembly over the collection of road tolls.

Sky Mount Limited has been contracted by the assembly to collect the tolls and is operating on major routes in the area under heavy police protection.

“We are very angry with the municipal chief executive and what she is doing. She didn’t tell us the modalities and the other details concerning this GHc1 toll. The roads are not good so what are they taking the monies for? We can’t continue to pay the money when we are not sure of what they are using them for,” one of the aggrieved drivers told Starr News.Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Ho Municipal Assembly, Fidellis Attoh has stated that any driver who resists payment would be punished in accordance with the law since the tolls are part of the assembly’s gazetted fees and charges.
