Security expert Dr. Kwesi Aning wants those responsible for leaking the report acknowledging a possible terror attack on Ghana, punished.

The security alert, dated April 9, was an internal memo to all heads of security agencies, but was leaked and seen by Pulse.com.gh.

The alert said a possible terrorist attack on Ghana was real, as confirmed by a suspected Malian terrorist under interrogation for the Grand Bassam attacks in Cote D’Ivoire .

The suspect had said Ghana was a next target to take away the perception that only francophone countries are the target.

Speaking with Citi GM, Dr. Kwesi Aning said the Ghana Immigration Service, the originator of the memo, needed to investigate the matter and punish anyone found to have leaked the memo.

Dr Aning is a security Analyst at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), and is the director of the  Faculty of Academic Affairs and Research.

He said if the document was categorised as sensitive or confidential “somebody must be punished first and foremost and then we must ask ourselves how do we ensure this does not happen again.”
