According to her, the government has done well and needs more time to fix the mess caused by the erstwhile administration of former President John Mahama.

In the run-up to the 2016 election, Mrs Rawlings who broke away from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to form her own party, labelled accusations on members of the NDC, calling them corrupt and undeserving to lead the country.

She called on Ghanaians who feel that the current government has under-performed since assuming power to be patient as the president has four years to deliver.

She said "I am happy there is a change. I am very happy...because you can't have a situation where we claim to be doing well, calling ourselves lower-middle income group, and in a miserable situation."

She has subsequently indicated that her husband, Mr Jerry Rawlings was not happy with the way some party members treated him.

According to her, people in the party "who obviously had no good upbringing" constantly abused him till "we reached that level where respect for the founder was nil."
